This recipe originally called for two raw eggs to be included in the second layer with the powdered sugar. I have been leaving them out for years and the dessert tastes fine without them. This recipe is definately NOT low-fat or low-sugar! I think the 2 sticks of margarine in layer one could be greatly reduced without any taste loss.
Layered Banana Split Dessert
Layer One: 2 cups graham cracker crumbs 2 sticks margarine or butter 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Layer Two: 1 box powdered sugar 2 sticks margarine or butter 1 teaspoon vanilla
Layer Three: 4-5 medium bananas, sliced
Layer Four: 1 can (1lb., 4 oz.) crushed pineapple, drained well
Layer Five: Cool Whip to cover
Ganishes: Chocolate syrup marashino cherries, drained & patted dry chopped nuts
Mix layer one ingredients together & press into a 9X13 pan. Chill 15 minutes or more. Beat layer two ingredients together until fluffy & light. Spread over layer one. Top with sliced bananas, then drained pineapple. Spread Cool Whip over pineapple layer generously. Cover and chill until ready to serve. Drizzle with chocolate sauce, dot with cherries and sprinkle with nuts. Store any leftovers in refrigerator.
