This is a classic Asian accompaniment for sauteed or deep-fried chicken strips. It also goes well with seafood and other poultry.
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup chicken stock
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon honey
1/2 teaspoon grated peeled fresh ginger root
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 to 2 drops yellow food coloring
Put the lemon juice, stock, sugar, honey and ginger in a saucepan with 1/2 cup water. Stir over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Increase the heat and bring to a boil.
Blend the cornstarch with a little water and add to the pan, stirring constantly until the boils and thickens.
Remove from the heat, stir in the food coloring and season with a pinch of salt Serve immediately.
