Grease muffin tins (for 16 muffins). Mix together the all-purpose flour, whole-wheat flour, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and salt into a large bowl. Combine the apples, squash, brown sugar, apple juice, egg, melted butter, and buttermilk in a medium bowl. Stir the apple mixture into the flour mixture just until the ingredients are moistened. Fill prepared muffin tins. Bake for 20 minutes or until the muffins are browned.
