GUM DROP SQUARES
1 cup margarine 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup light corn syrup 2 eggs 1 tbsp vanilla 1 tbsp vinegar 3 cups all-purpose flour 3 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 1 lb gumdrops (don't use black gumdrops) 1 1/2 cups chopped nuts powdered sugar (for garnish)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Grease a 15x10x1-inch jelly roll pan.
Cream margarine, sugar, syrup, and eggs together. Stir in vanilla and vinegar; set aside.
Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together, add to margarine mixture and mix well. Add gumdrops and nuts. Spread in prepared pan.
Bake 30-35 minutes at 375 degrees F. Cool and cut into 2-inch squares.
Dust cooled squares with powdered sugar.
