Beef and Cheese Turnovers
1 green pepper, coarsely chopped 3/4 pound ground beef 1 tsp minced garlic 1 tsp dried oregano 1 tsp ground cumin 3/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 1/4 cup tomato paste 1 pound storebought refrigerated pizza dough 3 oz piece sharp cheddar cheese, cut into 1/4" cubes 1 egg, lightly beaten
Preheat oven to 400°. Coat nonstick skillet with cooking spray; set over medium-high heat. Add chopped pepper; cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, 2 minutes. Stir in beef, galic, oregano, cumin, salt and pepper.
Cook, stirring occasionally until beef is no longer pink, 5-7 minutes; stir in tomato paste until combined. Remove from heat; set aside.
Coat baking sheet with cooking spray. On lightly floured surface roll out dough into 12x9" rectangle; cut into 6 (4 1/2x 4") rectangles. Transfer to baking sheet.
Divide beef filling equally among centers of squares; top filling with cheese. With pastry brush or your finger brush edges of dough with water. Fold dough diagonally over filling; pinch edges together to seal. Brush turnovers with egg. Bake turnovers 10 minutes or until lightly golden.
