BARBECUED BEEF CUBES5 pounds beef, cut in 2-inch cubes
oil
1 medium onion, chopped
4 tablespoons butter
1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup
1 cup water
1 cup chopped celery
4 tablespoons brown sugar
4 tablespoons lemon juice
3 tablespoons vinegar
3 tablespoons
Worcestershire sauce2 teaspoons prepared mustard
salt and pepper to taste
Brown beef cubes in small amount of oil in heavy skillet. Drain and set aside.
Brown onions in butter. Add remaining ingredients, mix well and simmer until slightly thickened, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 300 degrees F.
Pour sauce over beef cubes either in Dutch oven or casserole. Cover and cook in oven until beef cubes are tender, about 2 hours.
Good served over noodles.
