CHILI BURGER BALLS

2 pounds meat loaf mixture of ground beef and pork
1 egg
1/2 cup soft whole wheat bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon paprika
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 (12 ounce) bottle chili sauce
1 cup water
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
TO SERVE:
mashed potatoes, hot cooked rice, or noodles (optional)

Mix meat loaf mixture lightly with egg, bread crumbs, milk, salt, and paprika until well blended; shape into 16 balls.

Brown in oil in a kettle or Dutch oven; remove and set aside. Pour off all drippings.

Stir chili sauce, 1 cup water, brown sugar, and mustard into kettle; return meat balls. Cover and simmer, stirring several times, 30 minutes or until meat balls are cooked through.

Serve with mashed potatoes or hot cooked rice or noodles, if you wish.

Makes 8 servings
