CREOLE SPANISH STEAK
1 1/2 pounds round steak, 1-inch thick 2 tablespoons bacon grease or fat 2 cups tomatoes, cooked or canned 2 small onions, sliced water (as needed, to cover) 3 whole cloves 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper 1/8 bay leaf
Sear steak in bacon grease.
Pour tomatoes over steak; add onions and enough water to cover. Add spices and cook slowly on stovetop or in the oven at 350 degrees F for 1 hour.
