APPLE FIRESIDE SIPPER

2 quarts (8 cups) apple juice
1/4 to 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
12 whole allspice
12 whole cloves
1 to 1 1/2 cups apricot brandy or apricot nectar

In medium saucepan, combine apple juice and brown sugar. Cook over low heat until brown sugar is dissolved, stirring occasionally.

Meanwhile, tie all spices in cheesecloth bag. Add spice bag to saucepan; simmer 15 minutes.

Remove saucepan from heat. Remove spice bag; stir in brandy.

Serve hot in small mugs or cups. If desired, garnish with apple slices or wedges and cinnamon stick.

Kitchen Tips:
If you don't have cheesecloth, add the spices (break up the cinnamon stick) to a tea strainer and place in the saucepan.

Double this recipe for winter gatherings and keep the beverage warm in a slow cooker.

Servings 8 (1 cup) servings
