APRICOT CHEWS

12 dried apricots
6 dried figs
Apple or orange juice (for soaking apricots and figs)
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup almonds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
2 tablespoons molasses
1/2 cup wheat germ
Coconut flakes

Soak apricots and figs in apple or orange juice for a few hours or overnight, or microwave on medium for 2 minutes. Drain.

Combine apricots, figs, raisins, almonds, sunflower seeds, molasses and wheat germ in food processor or blender. Process until ingredients are finely chopped.

On wax paper, form batter into a sausage-like roll. Cover with coconut.

Refrigerate for a few hours, then slice or form into balls.

Makes 2 dozen 1/2-inch slices or walnut-sized balls
