PIZZA POT PIE
"Oregano, basil, Italian sausage, and pasta sauce team up in this kid-friendly meal that adults will love, too. Melted mozzarella cheese creates the perfect topping."
8 ounces wagon wheel pasta 8 ounces Italian sausage 1 teaspoon McCormick® Minced Onions 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Oregano Leaves 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Basil Leaves 1/4 teaspoon McCormick® Ground Black Pepper 1 (24 to 28 ounce) jar traditional-style pasta sauce 1 (8 ounce) package mozzarella cheese, cut into thin slices
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Cook and drain pasta as directed on package.
While pasta is cooking, break apart Italian sausage and cook over medium heat in a large skillet until done, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
Stir cooked sausage, onions, oregano, basil, and pepper into pasta sauce in an ungreased 9-inch deep-dish pie plate or 2 1/2-quart casserole. Add cooked pasta; blend well. Cover top completely with mozzarella slices.
Bake 15 minutes or until cheese is melted and mixture is hot.
PEPPERONI VARIATION: Follow Steps 1 and 3 above, substituting 8 ounces pepperoni, cut into slices or chunks, for Italian sausage.
