ITALIAN SAUSAGE AND GARLIC BREAD KABOBS
1/2 lb. cooked mild Italian sausage links,* cut into 1-inch pieces 16 (1-inch) cubes French bread 16 (1/2-inch-thick) slices yellow summer squash or zucchini 2 tablespoons purchased garlic spread** (or garlic butter), melted 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, if desired
Heat grill.
Alternately thread sausage, bread and squash evenly onto four 12 to 14-inch metal skewers.
In small bowl, combine melted garlic spread and parsley. Brush mixture over kabobs.
When ready to grill, place kabobs on gas grill over medium heat or on charcoal grill 4 to 6 inches from medium coals. Cook about 6 minutes or until vegetables are tender and bread is golden brown, turning once.
TO BROIL: Place kabobs on broiler pan; broil 4 to 6 inches from heat using times above as a guide.
*In place of the mild Italian sausage, use your favorite type of cooked sausage, such as bratwurst or hot Italian sausage.
**Garlic spread is a blend of garlic and cheese that’s delicious on meats, vegetables and breads. Look for garlic spread in the refrigerated section of the supermarket.
