CABBAGE PATCH STEW AND DUMPLINGS
"Fresh cabbage and ground beef in a savory, tomato-y stew with cloud-light dumplings."
1 pound ground beef 2 medium onions, thinly sliced 1 1/2 cups coarsely chopped cabbage 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 (16 ounces) can stewed tomatoes 1 (15 1/2 ounce) can kidney beans 1 cup water 1 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper 1 to 2 teaspoons chili powder FOR THE DUMPLINGS: 2 cups Bisquick baking mix 2/3 cup milk
Cook and stir ground beef in Dutch oven until light brown; drain.
Add onions, cabbage and celery; cook and stir until vegetables are light brown.
Stir in tomatoes, kidney beans (with liquid), water, salt, pepper and chili powder. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
Stir baking mix and milk to a soft dough. Drop by spoonfuls onto boiling stew. Cook uncovered 10 minutes; cover and cook 10 minutes longer.
