SUGAR PLUM BARS
1/2 cup packed brown sugar 1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened 1/4 cup shortening 2 cups Nature Valley granola (cinnamon and raisins), slightly crushed 2 cups Gold Medal all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 can (about 30 ounces) whole purple plums, pitted, cut up and drained FOR THE LEMON GLAZE: 2 tablespoons butter or margarine 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar 3 tablespoons lemon juice
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease pan, 13x9x2 inches.
Mix sugar, margarine and shortening. Stir in granola, flour and salt. Press half the mixture in pan. Spread plums over top. Press remaining mixture on plums.
Bake until light brown, 20 to 25 minutes. Spread with Lemon Glaze while warm. Cut into bars, 2 x l 1/2 inches; cool.
TO MAKE THE LEMON GLAZE: Heat 2 tablespoons butter until melted. Mix in powdered sugar and lemon juice.
