DOUBLE CHOCOLATE SURPRISE BROWNIES
1/2 cup butter or margarine 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted 2/3 cup all purpose flour 1 pkg (6oz) semi sweet chocolate chhips 1/2 cup chopped walnuts CREAM CHEESE FILLING: 1 pkg (4oz) cream cheese 2 tbsp butter or margarine 1/4 cup granulated sugar 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla 1 tbsp all purpose flour
Beat butter until light. Add sugar. Beat until well creamed.
Add eggs. Continue to beat well. Mix in the vanilla. Add the baking powder, salt and melted chocolate, stirring well.
Slowly add the flour, then add chocolate chips and nuts. Reserve 1 cup of chocolate mixture. Pour remaining mixture into prepared 9 inch square pan.
For filling; whip the cream cheese with the butter. Gradually add the sugar. Mix in the egg, vanilla and then the flour.
Pour the cream cheese mixture over the chocolate mixture in the pan. Drop the reserved chocolate mixture, by tablespoons, over the cream cheese mixture. Swirl to marble.
BAke at 350 for 30 to 35 minutes. Cool, then cut into squares.
