APPLE KUCHEN, NEW STYLE
4 slices bread 3 apples, pared and cut in sections 2 tablespoons butter 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon FOR THE ICING: 1/3 cup powdered sugar water (as needed) 1 teaspoon vanilla
Butter bread slices and place in buttered pan. Cover bread with overlapping pieces of apple. Dot with butter and sprinkle well with brown sugar that has been mixed with the cinnamon.
Bake in a moderate oven until the apples are done.
Spread immediately with icing made of powdered sugar, enough water to make it easy to spread, and flavored with vanilla.
Serve hot or cold with or without cream.
This is a fine “too-busy” dessert.
