DEEP-DISH APPLE STREUSEL PIE
2 quarts peeled and sliced tart apples 3/4 cup granulated sugar 1/2 cup raisins 1 tablespoon plus 2 cups flour, divided use 3 teaspoons apple pie spice, divided use 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup butter or margarine
In a large bowl combine apples, granulated sugar, raisins, 1 tablespoon flour and 2 teaspoons of the apple pie spice. Spoon into bottom of a 10x6x1 3/4-inch casserole; set aside.
In a medium bowl combine the remaining 2 cups flour, brown sugar, salt and remaining 1 teaspoon apple pie spice. Cut in butter very coarsely. Sprinkle mixture over apples in casserole.
Bake, uncovered, in 375-degree F oven for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 350 degrees and bake for 30 minutes longer.
