BLACK GOLD COOKIE DOUGH TREATS
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 1/4 cup salted butter 1/2 cup flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 4 eggs 1 1/3 cups sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla 25 mini Snickers candy bars, approximately 3 cups canola oil, approximately (for frying) Biscuit mix Water
In microwave-safe dish, melt chocolate chips, baking chocolate and butter, stirring several times during process. Remove and cool to about 90 degrees F.
Mix flour and baking powder. Set aside.
Add eggs, sugar and vanilla to chocolate mixture and beat with electric mixer. Add flour and beat on low speed until well-mixed.
Make into balls about the size of golf balls, making a depression in center and fill with a mini-candy bar. Form dough evenly around the candy. (If dough becomes too soft, chill until stiff.)
Heat oil to about 378 degrees F.
Mix biscuit mix and water to a thin pancake-dough consistency. Dip each cookie in mixture and fry individually until crisp. Place on paper towels and insert sticks. (The coating will not appear golden brown because of the large amount of chocolate in the recipe. However, the finished item is very dark.)
Makes about 25 cookies Source: B.L. Ashworth of Edmond, First-Place Winner Stick With Canola Oil, Fry It for the Fair contest, The Oklahoma State Fair, 2008 |
