BREAD MACHINE PASTA (ONION DILL) Using the bread machine for pasta is even better than using it for bread! I bought an extruding machine and returned it after using it once. Many parts to clean and if not right the first time you had to throw dough away and start over again. The hand crank pasta machine doesn't even have to be washed! You can make and eat pasta in about 30 minutes using bread machine and crank type pasta machine. I was even successful making spinach pasta the first time. I have a book I highly recommend called
The Pasta Machine Cookbook by Donna Rathmell German. Got it at Sam's club for only $4.69 and includes recipes for every kind of pasta you could imagine (also sauces and cooking instructions).
ONION DILL PASTA1 cup durum semolina
1/2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. dill weed
pinch of dry mustard
1 large egg
1 Tbsp. water (if needed)
Place ingredients in bread machine using white cycle. Knead about 1 minute then check. Adjust flour or liquid so it forms a round ball of dough and knead for 5 minutes.
Turn off machine and let dough rest 10-15 minutes before rolling out into sheets. You may have to sprinkle with flour during the whole process.
Allow to rest before cutting by hanging on wooden pasta rack.
After cutting toss in boiling water and stir to keep from sticking. Pasta is done when it rises to the top of water.
This recipe and instructions are from
The Pasta Machine Cookbook by Donna Rathmell German.
I have also frozen the dough after cutting and just cook while still frozen.
