WHOLE WHEAT WAFFLES

"If your waffle iron isn't hot before you pour on the batter, your waffles won't rise."

2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1 1/2 cups milk
2 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 egg

Heat waffle iron.

Beat all ingredients with wire whisk or hand beater until well blended.

Pour onto center of hot waffle iron (grease if necessary). Bake until steaming slows and waffle is golden brown. Remove carefully.

VARIATION:

NO-CHOLESTEROL WHOLE WHEAT WAFFLES:
Substitute skim milk for the milk and 2 egg whites or 1/4 cup cholesterol-free egg product for the egg.

Makes 6 servings
