I went apple picking this weekend and got a little overzealous in the orchard. I now have 40 pounds of apples on my kitchen table that two people cannot possible eat before they go bad. Any suggestions?

If I make pies, do I make the whole pie and freeze unbaked? Then pop into the oven frozen or does it need to thaw first? Is it OK to have the filling right in the crust or should the filling freeze separately? Maybe that's an idea - baggies of apple pie filling. Should this be cooked first?

Strudel - Would it be best to freeze this before or after baking?

Can I freeze raw apple slices? What happens to them?

What about baked apples?

Does applesauce freeze OK? I would think so.

Any other ideas besides pies, muffins and bread? What uses up a lot of apples?

Thanks for your help!
