Hearty Soup Mix

14 oz. split peas, dry
12 oz. pearl barley
14 oz. alphabet macaroni
12 oz. pkg. lentils
1 1/2 cups brown rice
1 cup dry minced onion

Combine the ingredients and store in airtight container.

1 lb. ground beef
6 cups water
1 1/2 cups soup mix
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 carrots
1 - 2 stalks celery, chopped
1 1/2 cup cabbage, shredded
2 (10 oz.) tomato sauce
24 oz. can V-8 juice

Brown ground beef; drain.
Add remaining ingredients.
Bring to a boil then simmer until vegetables are tender.
