DUTCH APPLE PIE

FOR THE CRUST:
2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted(I used butter)
1/2 cup quick cooking oats
FOR THE FILLING:
2/3 sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
1 1/4 cups water
3 cups diced peeled tart apples (I used 4 cups sliced)
1 tsp vanilla

(I add 1 tsp cinnamon to apples)

FOR THE CRUST:
Combine first 4 ingedients and set aside 1 cup for topping. Press remainder into ungreased 9-inch pie plate.

FOR THE FILLING:
Combine sugar, cornstarch, and water in medium saucepan until smooth. Bring to boil and cook 1 minute OR until thick.

Remove from heat and stir in apples and vanilla. Pour into crust and top with the reserved 1 cup crumbs.

Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes or until brown.
