Just received a request for this family favorite from my daughter and thought I'd check to see if this version was in the files. It's an oldie and a Fouth of July must at our gatherings.

Bake basic white cake in 9x13 pan. After cooling in pan, poke holes in cake using skewer or wooden spoon handle. Dissolve favorite small pkg. jello with
1 cup boiling water(red is good for holidays but orange wonderful). Cool to luke warm and pour over cake.

For the icing for the "Jello-Poke Cake" try 1 package instant vanilla pudding, one envelope Dream Whip, and 1 1/2 cups milk. Mix this until stiff and ice the cooled cake. Store in refrigerator. For 4th of July, arrange blueberries and strawberries in shape of flag. A real crowd pleaser and soooo easy!
