Quickie Brownies were on the menu last night! My son sings in a gospel group with 5 other young men and I try to play piano for them. I always try to have something in the Crockpot or on the stove for them. I think there were about 18 people coming and going last evening. All-American Barbeque Sandwiches
4 1/2 lbs lean ground beef
1 1/2 c chopped onion
2 1/4 c ketchup (I try to keep inexpensive ketchup for this)
3 T mustard 1 T Mexene chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder 1 T paprika
3 T Worcestershire
2 T vinegar
2 T sugar 18 hamburger buns
1 T salt
1 T pepper

In a large skillet or Dutch oven brown burger and onions. Drain. Add remaining ingredients. Heat well.
Serve on buns.
Quickie Brownies--This makes a big batch
1 c butter or margarine melted (not spread)
4 eggs
2 c sugar
1 c self-rising flour
1/2 cup cocoa
2 tsp vanilla
1 cup mini chocolate chips or vanilla chips, nuts, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, etc.
In a large bowl combine all ingredients except chips.
Pour batter into a greaded sheet pan. Don't use a 13 by 9 inch pan. It won't be big enough. Sprinkle with chips. Bake at 350 for 25 minutes. After about 13 minutes take brownies out and shake down. Finish baking, cool, and cut with a plastic knife. I don't know where I picked up that tip, but it works with fudge and other bar cookies, too.
At the end of the evenning, there was one brownie and a
little barbeque left. We had a very productive evening.
