Hurahh! it's chris' last day ay work. was thinking to go out but since we got lunches/dinners with friends lined up since tomorrow so dropped the idea. this is our last homemade meal in KL!

ok, i am going to use up all the oil left in the bottle! Scary, man!

deep-fry baby caramari that is! simple. no particular recipe. just cut them into rings. marinate the rings in a bit of salt and white pepper. then dip the pieces in sweet potato flour (just before frying.) drain well and serve.
**sweet potato flour can be replaced w/ part of cornflour + all-purpose (or + tapioca if you have it.)

fry pork fillet strips with pickled mustard green. (the later comes in a little packet. have a label said "Sichuan preserved vegetable".) first time for me to try it out of a "packet"... rather carageous of me, i must say, but it says "no preservatives added" so i will just bbelieve that for the time being. anyway, going to marinate the pork strips w/ very little soy sauce and brown sugar and cornflour. mince some garlic. heat the oil. fry the garlic till fragrant. add the meat & brown them a little. then add the "Sichuan preserved vegetable" from the little packet. Mix well till hot and cook. Oh,, do add abit of water/stock. (apparently, i won't have any stock at the moment. it will do w/ just water.)

the vegetable will be an easy one. cut some french beans and carrots into strips (diamond shaped strips). minced some dry prawns and garlic. fry the garlic till fragrant. add in all the ingredients and enough water to simmer with low heat. add some soy sauce and white pepper. when the liquid almost evaprated, it's done. (some like their bean dryer in this dish so it's up to you!)

then the steamed rice will have to come out of the microwave, i guess...

i will have a long, hot bath afterwards...
then put my feet up to drink espresso and finish my 2nd Bridget Jone's Diary. still have 200 or so pages left. btw, the Bridge (2 books) are truly a fun read. don't just go for the movies, serious!
