Growing up in rural Louisiana, one of my fondest childhood memories was sitting on our front porch with my Daddy sipping a big glass of iced tea. This is my mother's recipe. In medium saucepan, heat 3 cups COLD water with 8 regular (not family size) teabags. I use Luzianne for two reasons: it's the kind my mother always used and everytime I see the box, it reminds me of home no matter where I am. Bring to a boil and IMMEDIATELY remove from heat. Allow to steep for 8 minutes then remove tea bags. When removing bags, it is VERY important that you do NOT squeeze or wring out the teabags. Just let them drip then discard. Squeezing them releases all the little particles into your mixture, and this makes it bitter. Measure 1 cup sugar into a glass pitcher and add hot tea, stir until sugar is dissolved then add cold water to fill pitcher. My mother adds the juice of one lemon to her tea, but I prefer it without.
