These are topics dear to me. My first sewing project was a simple apron, made for 4-H exhibit at the county fair around age 9. I still have that tiny apron made from pink and grey calico fabric. I have an apron my mother made as a new bride. It has sort of tuliped scallops on the bottom and was sewn with the tiniest stitches. I think she may still have the pattern.
I love the idea of the apron books. Aprons seem to be gaining favor again. Last Christmas, I gave red butcher's aprons with names embroidered on them to a group of friends. What a hit they made! Everyone put them on and lined up and had their picture taken. I'm the only one in the photo without an apron. The girls didn't understand why I didn't make and bring one for myself. LOL
Now for the biscuits. I have started making my White Lily Self-Rising buttermilk biscuits in my chicken skillet and they turn out great. The cast iron allows you to bake at very hot temps (475-500) which leaves the biscuits flaky on the outside and tender on the inside.
And Gina, I still think of our exchange of phone voices a few years ago. And yes, I remember the fun days of chatting and having those lampshade-wearing, chandelier-swinging cyber-parties! It's nice to see you posting again.
