Hi Karen! I planned a Mother's Day Dinner for our church for about 100 women. The menu is: Chicken Curry on Rice, Green Beans with Bacon Bits, Fruit Salad, Homemade Bread and Apple Crisp with Ice Cream, Coffee and Iced Tea. The Nut cup will hold a Chocolate dipped spoon, cream mints leftover from my wedding, cashews, amaretto chocolate pecans and a slip of colored paper with a nice verse on it. I am looking for a nice verse for mother's that I can put on a note card with a picture of a hat and tuplips on it to stand beside the plate. (Do you know of a verse?) There will be door prizes for things like: the woman with the most grandchildren, children and great-grandchildren combined, the woman who came the farthest, the oldest and youngest mother and the one married the longest to the same man. The Theme is 'A Tribute to Mothers'. The program will be readings: A History of Mother's Day; Poems = 'What Is A Mother?', 'My Daughter', 'Grandmothers', 'When God Made Moms' (which is really wonderful!); Quotations by Famous People about mothers, and 'Things Mothers Say' like "What if everyone jumped off a cliff? Would you do it too?" and "Someday your face will freeze like that", and "Always have clean underwear on in case you're in an accident". Can you all relate to some of those? :) And last of all, a quartet that will include songs about mothers'. I know your party is not for 'mothers', but you can adjust these things to almost any party. Have fun! I almost have more fun planning partys than attending them. I love to plan and see other people having fun! Linda B.
