I used some of these ideas over the years as a Girl Scout leader and as a woman with 8 family and 4 friends with October birthdays (2 on Halloween). We have a family party every Halloween to celebrate these birthdays.

My favorite decoration was as follows: Use a rubber glove (I used surgical type), red food coloring and water. Put a drop or two of red food coloring in the finger of each glove, fill with water and freeze. The frozen "hand" always came out shaped differently. Fill a punch bowl with red punch and float the hand as the ice ring. The directions I had suggested standing the hand up so that the fingers were coming out of the punch. Mine usually tipped over.

Another idea was to serve peeled white grapes, i.e. eyeballs.

My Scouts always looked forward to our Halloween parties. We came in costume and I always looked for unusual (weird) ways to serve the food, as in the eyeballs. Now, at the family party, we dress up in costume but they only allow me to serve spaghetti.

Hope this helps.
