Hi BV how nice -- I get the impression it is an "open house" kind of a deal?

You ahve been given some GREAT advice already loved everyidea thus far ....
my adds:
Time if no dinner DEFINATLY be carful of the time or make the invite CLEAR.
"Romance in the air" please join us with your valintine for cocktails (if serving) and appitizers from 4-6 pm or somthing similar.
or "we feel loved" as a new member of this community we'd like to invite you and your val to an appitzer buffet from 4-6 pm ....

I agree you might want more of a variety than 6 for 100 people.

I find that prpared foods have te serivng sizes and go form that -- even if doing scrach -- you could check a prepared similar item andplan but remember they will have other choices.

of course don't EXPECT 100 but do plan on that many -- left overs are great!

ROSES with the candelobras and crystal would be SMASHING! a dozen in a sivler bowl (mentioned earlier) ... ooo la la! also you might want to concider this if you cna get them inexpensively or if petals fall -- simply place petal on a small old silver tray(s) and place around the room.

If you have access to tea service -- use it!

sugar cubes as well rather than simple loose sug. and REAL creamer rather than dry powder. For too long I've let hubby be incharge of coffee -- he pours it from the pot to a MUG!

You might want to concider other areas for a small bowl of dip or a cracker bowl -- not just on the main table.

lite a candle inthe guest bath .... replace light bu;bs with lower watts if possible -- lots of warm LOW lighting is great --

Food:
I like dips and things lately. This board is packed FULL of appitizers. take some time to roam through it a simple search this board for appitizers will overwhelm you i'm sure :)
I posted as well as others a spinach ball recipe -- don't call them that though some people get funny aobut spinach :) those can be done ahead and are inexpensive and you can make tons!
I REALLY recomned the spinach dip i posted -- for your party you would need to make say 4 batches in 3 seperate cassaroles -- i say 3 so that you can change out as it is used up, serve with baggetts cut up in chunks -- what maybe 8 baggettes? you can get them at Costco --

well i'll leave some space for the others sorry to be so long winded!
