Char, This recipe is pretty easy to put together, and it's very crunchy and tasty. The original recipe makes a ton - be sure to mix and bake it in a very large pan if you make the original version. I scaled it down to 2/3 recipe and then to 1/3 recipe (both below), using sort of math and sort of eyeball measurements. The 1/3 version just fits in a 13x9 pan. I take out the Brazil nuts because no one in our family really likes them; my kids asked me to add more Fritos the next time I make the recipe.

CRISPIX, FRITOS, AND NUTS SNACK MIX

1 (17 oz.) box Crispix
1 (15 oz.) bag of small Fritos
2 small cans mixed nuts (remove Brazil nuts)
2 sticks (1 cup) butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup Karo light syrup

Combine first 3 ingredients in a roaster pan sprayed with oil spray.
Combine the next 3 ingredients and boil 2 minutes. Pour over cereal mix in pan.
Bake at 350 degrees for 8 minutes and stir. Bake another 8 minutes.
Place on wax paper to cool. Break apart as it is cooling.

1/3 will barely fit in a 9x13 pan!

2/3 RECIPE:
1 (12 oz.) box Crispix
1 (10 oz.) bag of small Fritos
1 small can mixed nuts plus a handful of extra walnuts or pecans or cashews (remove Brazil nuts)
2/3 cup butter
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
3 oz Karo light syrup

1/3 RECIPE:
6 cups Crispix (1/2 of a 12 oz box)
1/2 of a (10 oz.) bag of small Fritos
2/3 small can mixed nuts (remove Brazil nuts)
1/3 cup butter
2/3 cups brown sugar
1 oz Karo light syrup

Try using 1/2 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar and 2 oz Karo with 1/3 recipe.
More Fritos would be good.
