NORTHWOODS MAPLE NUT COOKIES
6 cups flour 1 1/2 teaspoons cream of tartar 1 teaspoon baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 2 cups sugar 1 cup firmly packed brown sugar 1 1/2 cups margarine or butter, softened 1 cup oil 5 teaspoons maple flavor 3 eggs 2 cups toasted, chopped pecans*
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine flour, cream of tartar, baking powder and salt; set aside.
In large bowl, beat sugar, brown sugar, margarine, oil, maple flavor and eggs until well blended. Gradually stir in flour mixture; mix well, stir in nuts. Cover with plastic wrap; refrigerate at least 1 hour of until firm.
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in sugar.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.
*To toast pecans, spread nuts on cookie sheet; bake at 375 degrees F for 6 to 10 minutes or until light golden brown.
No change over 3500 feet.

SNICKERDOODLES
1 cup butter or margarine 2 cups sugar 2 eggs 1/4 cup milk 1 teaspoon vanilla 3 3/4 cups flour 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar 1/2 teaspoon salt Cinnamon-sugar
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
In mixing bowl cream butter or margarine and sugar till light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Blend in milk and vanilla.
Thoroughly stir together flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt; stir into creamed mixture.
Form dough into 1-inch balls. Roll them in cinnamon-sugar. Place balls 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheets. Lightly flatten balls with the bottom of a glass dipped in cinnamon-sugar.
Bake till done, 10 to 12 minutes.
