Becca, I'm reposting below a message from Micha about a pasta bar party she had. If you do a search for pasta or sauces, you'll come up with about a million recipes. I can't give you guidance on quantities (I'm of the "way too much is just about enough" school, myself), but I would suggest offering a fettucine or spaghetti type of pasta and a shorter pasta that's a little neater to eat. There are both authentic and simpler Alfredo sauces, so read thru a few of the recipes to find one you can deal with.
Here's Micha:
DH and I are hosting a Welcome Back from Summer party for some friends Friday night. We're having a pasta bar where guests will be able to top the pasta of their choice with the sauce of their choice and any toppings of their choice.I need a tried and true recipe for Alfredo Sauce, can I replace the Parmesan in one with Pecorino, does anyone know?
The menu is as follows:
Appetizers: Blue Cheese Stuffed Meatballs Crab & Cream Cheese Stuffed Pepporocini
Pasta Bar Egg Pasta Wheat Pasta (no eggs) Mushroom Marinara Sauce Alfredo Sauce Sweet Italian Sausage Mushrooms Onions Roasted Sweet Pepper Strips
Salad Broomstick Breadsticks Oven Roasted Roma Tomatoes and Garlic
Dessert: Chocolatey Dessert (brought by guest) Non-chocolate Dessert (brought by guest)
Beverages: Various Red Wines
Thanks, Micha
