REC: Old-Fashioned Sponge Cake from Scratch Hi Pam: This is my grandmother's recipe: 1 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 1/4 cups sifted granulated sugar 1/2 tsp salt 3 eggs (fresh and at room temperature, if possible) 1/2 cold water 1 tsp vanilla extract Beat eggs until light and fluffy. Add sugar, flour, water, baking powder and salt; mix well until all is blended; add vanilla. Grease and line oblong pan with wax paper. Bake at 325 degrees for 60-65 min. Remove from pan remove wax paper. Serve plain or sprinkle with powdered sugar, ice cream, fresh or frozen fruit or whipped cream. Sandy Wells Homer, Alaska
