2 cups sugar
1/2 cup karo syrup
1/2 cup water
a drop or two of food coloring if desired

place water, sugar,and syrup in med pan and heat .Wipe down sides of
pan with wet cloth. stir unntil sugar is melted and starts to boil.
wipe down one more time and quit stiring. cook without stiring until
syrup reaches hard crack stage of sbout 300 deg.
