When I lived at home, my mom would always put the crust of the loaf of bread in a metal bowl in the pantry, and when all the different types of bread were bone dry, she would have me run them through the small meat grinder we had, then put the crumbs in the freezer. We never bought bread crumbs. However, I married a man who LOVES the crusts of bread, so to insure domestic tranquility, I now buy my bread curmbs!!
