This is not your recipe but it is a good one. Try it.
Steak and Vegetables
4-5 lb chuck roast
3 T olive oil
1 T butter
3 T flour
1 1/2 c buttermilk
1 c water or beef stock
1/2 t thyme
1/4 t salt
1 1/2 t fresh black pepper
preheat oven to 350'
in a frying pan, brown meat on meat on both sides
in the olive oil and butter. remove meat to a baking dish
and add flour to the pan mix well. deglaze pan with the stock
or water, add buttermilk remove all the little pieces from the bottom of
the pan. pour over the meat add 1 onion cut in half.
Bake in a 350' oven for 1 1/2 hour. turning meat once.
now prepare any or all of these vegetables
potatoes, carrots, onions[pearl, mushrooms,turnips.
add them to the baking pan. continue baking until the vegetables are tender.
check for liquid and if it gets to thick add more stock or water
*** Now my daughter who I wrote this recipe for uses a cooking
bag and she says it comes out great.
