Fry Bread

Lard or oil for deep frying
3 cups sifted flour
1 Tablespoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
Heat frying fat in a 5 quart deep pot.
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl. Add warm water in small amounts and knead dough until soft but not sticky. you may need more or less water depending on flour. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes.
Break off egg size pieces of dough and roll out into rounds about 1/4 inch thick. Pierce several times with a fork, to allow dough to puff.
Fry rounds in fat until bubbles appear in dough, turn over and fry on other side until golden.
