Dear Malenka,

We substitute plain old, store-
bought apple sauce for oils in
recipes for muffins, quick breads
and, sometimes, in package mix
cakes.

This practice is cheap (assuming,
however, that apple sauce is
readily obtainable in your area)
and nobody has to know what makes
your baked goods so MOIST!

Happy Cooking!
