Here you go Jan, this recipe is from an old Joy of Cooking

CORNSTARCH CUSTARD PUDDING OR BLANCMANGE
Mix in the top of a double boiler:
1/2 cup sugar
6 Tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 tsp. salt
Gradually add while stirring well:
4 cups milk
Place the mixture over (not in) boiling water and stir constantly 8-12 mins.
at which time it should have begun to thicken. Cover and continue to cook for about ten minutes more.
Stir 1 cup of this thickened mixture slowly into 2 well beaten eggs. Return it to the milk mixture and continue to cook 2 mins. stirring constantly. Do not overcook.
The pudding will thicken more as it cooks. Remove from heat, and when slightly cooled by gentle stirring to release the steam, add 1 tsp. vanilla. Place in prepared molds.
