A cute story behind this recipe, if you want it. Recipe included in a dessert cookbook that we did about 18 years ago, now out of print.

GRANDMA T'S OUTHOUSE PUDDING

"Back in the early 1900's, in Oklahoma, Grandmother Thompson (Grandma "T") went to the outhouse with a magazine. While in the house and reading the magazine she came across this recipe, tore out the page and kept it so she could share the dessert with her family. It has been passed down to children, grand kids, and great grand kids."

2 cups fruit
1 1/4 cups sugar, divided use
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup milk

Mix fruit, 3/4 cup sugar and butter together and bring to a boil.

Mix together flour, the remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder and milk.

Place the fruit mixture in a baking dish and pour the batter over it.

Bake (in 350 degree F) until crust forms and browns (baking time not provided).

Serve with cream or ice cream. Yum, Yum, Good !!
