LEMON SAUCE FOR POUND CAKE
1/3 c. butter 1 c. sugar 1 c. evaporated milk 1/2 c. light corn syrup 1 tsp. grated lemon rind 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 c. fresh lemon juice
In saucepan melt butter; add sugar, corn syrup and salt. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for 3 or 4 minutes. Remove from heat and gradually stir in evaporated milk. Add lemon juice and rind. Beat vigorously.
For Orange Sauce: follow recipe for lemon sauce and use 1/2 cup orange juice and 1 teaspoon orange rind. Good over ice cream. |
