Boston Brown Bread
From: Cookbook USA CD

2 pkgs. yeast
1 tbsp. honey
1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. unbleached white flour
1/2 c. molasses
2 tbsp. oil
1/2 c. warm water
1/2 c. cornmeal
1 1/2 c. whole wheat flour
1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. soy milkMix yeast, warm water, honey, and 1/2 cup whole wheat flour; allow to rise in a warm place for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, combine the remaining ingredients. Add first mixture to second mixture.
Mix well. The product will be a soft dough. Allow to rise 15 minutes in a warm place. Stir down. Put into oiled cans and fill the cans half full. Allow to rise 15 minutes. Steam in covered kettle for 1 1/2 hours. Serve warm.
