Here is my Mothers recipe for Apple Crumb Pie
On pie pastry in a 9 in pie pan.
4 or 5 tart apples peeled and slice. or 1 to 2 cans pie sliced apples (not with anything else added.) 1/2 Cup sugar 1 tsp cinnamon
Mix the three ingredients together and pour in pie shell Topping 3/4 Cup flour 1/2 Cup sugar 1/2 to 1 tsp cinnamon 1/3 Cup butter Mix these ingredients together chopping butter in until it looks crumbly ans sprinkle over apples.
Bake 450 degrees for 15 minutes and then reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for about 30 minutes more.
Another crumbly topping you could make is: Mix together 6 oz melted butter 1 beaten egg 1/2 to 3/4 sugar 1 Cup flour 1/2 cup chopped pecans
Bake pie at 375 degrees for about 40 minutes.
Serve with icecream or whipped cream sweetened with maple syrup if desired.
