These two are from the Better Homes and Gardens Cook Book c. 1940 - one of my older cook books - it's an original first printing...and it's still being used! Hope this helps!

1 pound ground beef 1/2 pound ground pork 1/2 pound ground veal 4 slices soft bread 1/4 cup finely chopped onion 1 cup warm milk 1/4 tsp. poultry seasoning 2 tablespoons finely chopped celery 2 beaten eggs 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons salt 1/4 teaspoon pepper 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs 1/4 teaspoon sage 1/2 cup chili sauce 1/4 teaspoon dry mustard 1/2 cup boiling water
Thoroughly mix meats; add onion, celery, and seasonings. Cube bread; soak in milk; add eggs and Worcestershire sauce; beat with rotary beater. Combine meat and egg mixtures and form in 2 loaves. Roll in bread crumbs and place in greased baking pan. Spread chili sauce over each loaf. Pour water around loaves; bake uncovered in moderate oven (350) 60 minutes. Baste with liquid in pan at 15-minute intervals.
Serve hot or cold. Serves 8 to 10.Everyday meatloaf
2/3 cup dry bread crumbs I cup milk 1 1/2 pounds ground beef 2 slightly beaten eggs 1/4 cup grated onion I teaspoon salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper ' 1/2 teaspoon sageSoak bread crumbs in milk; add meat, eggs, onion, and seasonings; mix well. Form into individual loaves and place in greased muffin pans. Cover meat loaves with Piquant Sauce and bake in moderate oven (350) for 45 minutes. Or form in single loaf in 4" by 8" inch loaf pan. Spread Piquant sauce over and bake I hour. Serves 8.
Piquant Sauce: Combine 3 tablespoons brown sugar, 1/4 cup catsup, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 teaspoon dry mustard.
