Years ago my husband was in the military and we became good friends with a guy who was half Filipino (his mother). This is his mother's recipe, she taught his wife who in turn taught me. The ingredients may seem a little strange but you will not beleive the aroma or the taste of this dish. I have been making this dish for 25 years, it's very easy and does not require a lot of time or prep. Great for a working mom!

Chicken Adobo

In large skillet mix 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup vinegar, 1 cup water, 1 tsp sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/8 tsp pepper, 1/4 tsp garlic powder, 1/2 tsp accent (optional). Add chicken pieces. Cover, bring to a boil.
Cook for 40 - 45 minutes. Be careful not to boil out all of the juice, it's wonderful over white rice!
