Nanci, if your tour guide wasn't talking about shrimp and grits as a specialty from a restaurant, she probably meant the way that most locals prepare it. The easiest and best way for shrimp and grits, is to prepare your grits, seasoning with salt. Peel raw shrimp and saute them in butter with a dash of garlic salt. Mix them into the grits, and you have a wonderful meal, either for breakfast, or better yet, for supper, when you don't want anything heavy. I know it sounds like a weird combination to most, but once you try it, you will see!
