THIS IS A REALLY EASY PEACH COBBLER RECIPE THAT ALL SOUTHERNERS SORT OF KNOW & MAKE BY HEART! IT DOES NOT HAVE A FLAKY CRUST, BUT DOES HAVE A CRISP, BUTTERY CRUST THAT IS DELICIOUS.
PLACE A PACKAGE OF FROZEN PEACHES IN A SAUCEPAN & ADD 2 CUPS OF WATER & 3/4 C. SUGAR. BRING TO A BOIL. IN A 12X9X2 PAN, MELT 1 STICK BUTTER. IN A BOWL MIX 1 C. SELF RISING FLOUR, 3/4 C. SUGAR, 1 C. MILK & 1 TSP. VANILLA. POUR BATTER INTO PAN OVER MELTED BUTTER. PUT PEACHES EVENLY OVER BATTER AND THEN POUR AS MUCH OF THE LIQUID OVER THE PEACHES AS YOU WOULD LIKE. I PUT ABOUT TWO CUPS TO KEEP FROM BEING DRY. BAKE AT 375 UNTIL DOUGH COMES TO TOP & GOLDEN BROWN.
