Paula, I am posting a fudge recipe that is so simple and makes about 5 pounds. When you pour it into a pan or mold or cookie cutters, you need to just spread it out to the edges and let it set until firm. I would put the cutters on a waxed paper lined cookie sheet and just place it somewhere out of the way until the fudge is firm. Then you can wrap it or whatever to present it as a gift. Now the fudge.
Fudge
4 1/2 cups sugar 1 13 ounce can evaporated milk 1/2 pound butter 2 cups chopped walnuts 18 ounces chocolate chips, I prefer semi-sweet but may use milk chocolate 3 teaspoons vanilla
Use a large heavy pan to cook this in. Over low heat, cook the milk and sugar, stirring constantly as this sticks easily. Bring to a boil and boil for 15 minutes, stirring constantly. take off heat. Immediately stir in butter, chips, nuts and vanilla. Stiru until al meled and well mixed. Pour into a buttered 9x13x2 inch pan. Let set at least 12 hours before cutting. makes 5 pounds.
